HOOSER FAMILY CEMETERY & SIGN *

Hooser Family Cemetery
Baxter County,
Arkansas

The Hooser Family Cemetery is located near the McPhearson Community, north of Baxter County Road 73, also known as the Culp Road and Sugarloaf Road in rural southwestern Baxter County. It is between 1/4 and 1/2 mile north of the area of the Historic Cold Water School House at the end of Baxter County Road 123. Access to the location is problematic.
There are clearly six grave sites inside the wall, three with engraved markers and three unknowns marked with upright field stones. It is possible that one of the unmarked graves is Reuben Hooser who was the father of James Dawson Hooser. The cemetery is located very near where the Hooser home once stood. This home most likely belonged to Reuben Hooser and wife Ginsey Ann and was later passed on to son James Dawson.
A sign was placed at the Hooser Cemetery on July 18, 2012, by Jeff Lewis and his crew of prisoners from the Baxter County Jail. They also cleaned up the little cemetery.
