Mildred Inez Davis, 79, of Jonesboro, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007 at her residence.
She was born in Letona, Ark. and was a long time resident of Jonesboro. She retired from Frolic Shoe Factory after 27 years. She attended the Apt Community Church and was active in the square dance clubs — Promanators and Pistols and Petticoats. She was also a homemaker and a gardener.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Davis of the home; her mother, Ardith Hughes of Letona; a daughter and her husband, JoAnn and Ron Schneider of Alexandra, Va.; a son and his wife, Dale and Linda Davis of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Kelly Parnell and April Murphy and her husband Dustin Murphy all of Jonesboro; three sisters, Wilma Lee Christian of High Ridge, Mo., Sis Hardin of Kensett and Louise Spencer of Letona; three brothers, Melvin Hughes and Marvin Hughes both of Searcy and Roy Gene Hughes of Kensett.
She was preceded in death by her father, Julius I. Hughes.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Michael Broadaway officiating. Michael Henderson will give the eulogy for Mrs. Davis. The funeral service will be held at Pickens Chapel Nazarene Church in Letona, Ark., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Goodwin of Conway officiating, with viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in the Pickens Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Marvin Hughes, Roy Gene Hughes, Melvin Hughes, Gary Williams, Lynn Spencer, Dan Spencer, Kyle Williams and Cody Williams. Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are James Hatley, Walter Spencer and Buddy Parham.
