Mrs. Willie Merritt Evans, 80, of San Angelo, Tex., died Monday at a San Angelo hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rushing Memorial Methodist Church in Chidester with Bro. James Richarson officiating. Burial will be in Chidester Cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon. Mrs. Evans, widow of Dale Evans, was a native of Arkansas and was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Robert P. Taylor of Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin T. Sherman of Gurdon and Mrs. BillyS Shipley of Texas; four brothers, Lloyd Merritt and Julius Merritt both of Camden, Glenn Merritt and Austine Merritt both of Texas, four sisters, Mrs. C. C. Beaver of Camden, Mrs. Agnes Hylton of California, Mrs. Estelle Cady of California and Mrs. Sam Cook of Rosston; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Camden News - August 2, 1972)
