Mrs. Velma Pearl Martin, 84, of Lake Village died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A homemaker and member of the New Bethel Assembly of God, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie C. "Bud" Martin, and twins Johnny Ray and Connie Fay Chandler. Survivors include a son, Johnny Chandler of Portland; two sisters, Helen Busie of Lake Village and Ila Elkins of California; a granddaughter, Debra Chandler-Thompson of Portland; and a great-grandson, Chandler Thompson of Portland. Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, in the New Bethel Assembly of God with Revs. Wallace Eddleman and Bob Davis officiating. Burial was to follow services at the Lake Village Cemetery, directed by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
