Dorothy Jean Pate McCann Jones, 85 0f Thornton died Tuesday March 1, 2022. Born January 31, 1937 at Bearden, she was a daughter of the late Otis Pate and Vera Hearnsberger Watt. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Vecial McCann and Gerald Jones; a great-granddaughter; a brother and two sisters. She is survived by a son, Glenn McCann and his wife, Prudence of Hampton; three daughters, Amanda Vela of Camden, Karen Crouse of Thornton, Carol Cave and husband Jon of Ward; sister, Shirley Wooten; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
