Saturday, June 28, 2008, Ruthie Faye Jones was welcomed home, a daughter of the late John Henry and Daisy Sheppard. She was born Aug. 28, 1934, and spent her early years in Arkansas.

She was a member of the Church of Christ of the Living God and served as president of missions and secretary of the church. On March 15, 1949, she and Joe E. Jones were married and they lived in Fort Smith for over 40 years. She and her husband were co-founders of the First Church of God situated at 2301 N. 34th St.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons.

Survivors include her children, Willie, James, Marvin, Michael and Teresa Jones, all of Fort Smith; her sisters, Flossie Bell of Moffett, Dovie Campbell and Dorothy Turner, both of Fort Smith, and Eunice Lee of Van Buren; a brother, Benny Sheppard of Fort Smith; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service was held 2 p.m. today, July 5, 2008, at First Church of God, 2301 N. 34th St., with Pastor Gary Turner officiating.

Interment was at Washington Cemetery under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Joseph, Jarvis, Jerome, Oshea, Joshua and Nelson.
