Jack Lavelle Hampton Sr., age 87 of El Dorado, passed from this life on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. Jack was born on September 19, 1927 in El Dorado to the late Gertrude "Trudy" Goodwin Hampton and James Melvin Hampton. Jack was a US Army veteran, serving his country during the World War II Era. He was a carpenter by trade, serving 45 plus years with John L. Hampton Construction and Hampton and Crain Construction before his retirement in 1995. Jack was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church. He enjoyed Deer hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed riding his tractor, whether he was bush hogging or tilling the ground for his yearly vegetable garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend whom will be greatly missed by all.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John L. Hampton and Dickie Hampton; three sisters, Louise Forbish, Sybil Hampton and Betty Weller.
Those left to cherish his memory include; his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Walthall) Hampton; two sons, Jackie Hampton and wife Helen Kay and Kenny Hampton all of El Dorado; three daughters, Melinda Bridges and husband Curtis of Parkers Chapel, Melissa Whorton and husband Ted of El Dorado and Mitzi Brock and husband Edward of Smackover; eleven grandchildren, Beau Hampton, Amanda Hampton, Christopher Bridges, Meagan Pearson, Daniel Bridges, Taylor Donnley, Shelli Hampton, Nicole Barrette, James Hampton, Weston Fitzgerald and Cassidy Sullivan; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Maudine Russell of El Dorado and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Bailey Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Wyatt Baptist Church with Bro. Vernon Lee and Bro. Adam Thomas officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Wyatt-Parnell Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
