Preston Rogers, 75 of Junction City, peacefully passed from this life to his new life with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, April 28, 2016, at his home after a lengthy illness. Preston was born September 21, 1940 in Three Creeks to John Malcolm and Willie Douglas Rogers. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Wayne, Paul, Donald, and John; his sisters Janette R. Blackmon, Louise R. Griffith, Frankie R. Meadows, Carolyn R. Burton, and Frances R. Greer; and his beloved wife of 46 years Eleanor Faye Rogers.
Preston dedicated his life to his community, serving as Junction City, Louisiana alderman from 1977 to 1991 and then as mayor from 1991 until his death. He worked tirelessly for his beloved town and made contacts throughout Louisiana and Arkansas. A retired timber and land broker, Preston enjoyed his retirement by working on his farm and adoring his four wonderful grandchildren.
Survivors are one daughter Ellen Lowe and husband Robby of Junction City; one son John Rogers and wife Amy of Junction City; two brothers Maurice Rogers of Downsville, Louisiana and Lloyd Rogers of Three Creeks; and four grandchildren Dustin Rogers, Courtney Lowe, Joe Lowe, and Julia Rogers all of Junction City. The family appreciates the care and friendship provided by Florine Malone of Three Creeks and the other in-home caregivers. Also the family expresses gratitude to Dr. Scott Haynes and the Claiborne Family Medical Clinic for their compassionate care.
Visitation is Friday, April 29 at Three Creeks Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.. The funeral service is Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Three Creeks Baptist Church with Brother Buddy Boatwright and Brother Mark Margis officiating. Interment is at Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Memorials honoring Preston's life can be made to Three Creeks Baptist Church or Roselawn Cemetery.
