Claude Poole, 71, 1222 E. Block St., died Tuesday in a local hospital following a brief illness. Born Oct. 14, 1899, in Union County, he was the son of James Frederick and Virginia Dickinson Poole. A lifelong resident of this area, Mr. Poole was a retired employe of American Oil Co. He was a member of the East Main Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Inez Joiner Poole, El Dorado; a son, J. B. Poole, El Dorado; two daughters, Mrs. E. T. Summerhill, El Dorado, and Mrs. Jack Hardesty, Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Hamp Poole, Bastrop, La.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Main Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Morgan and the Rev. J. Paul Palmer officiating. Burial will Follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. (El Dorado Times - January 5, 1971)
