April 18, 1916 - December 28, 1969
Mrs. Helen Marie Owen, 53, 2206 Helena St., died Saturday in a local hospital following a brief illness. Born April 18, 1916, in Laurel, Miss., she was the daughter of William B. and Lou Atkins Smith. She was a member of the East Main Baptist Church. Mrs. Owen is survived by her husband, William F. Owen, El Dorado; two daughters, Miss Betty Owen, El Dorado, and Mrs. David Burroughs, Smackover; her mother, Mrs. Lou A. Smith, Baton Rouge, La; three brothers, Rudolph, Jack and Dick Smith, all of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Aull, Orange, Tex.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the East Main Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Morgan officiating. Burial followed in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. The family will be at 2303 Houston St. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services. Pallbearers were Otis Jennings, Robert Wood, Gordon Deckard, Virgil Dollar, Virgil Huddleston, Charlie Fisher, Jen Shelby and Dennis Pickett. (El Dorado Times - December 29, 1969)
