SPRINGCALE — Charles Herbert Duncan, 82, of Springdale died Feb. 27, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in North Little Rock. He was born July 11, 1917, in Ballard, Ala. His parents were William Eugene and Anna Mae Lambeth Duncan Pond.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in a railroad battalion as a conductor in North Africa.

He was a retired Southern Baptist minister, who pastored at churches in Arkansas for 15 years. He was an insurance salesman for many years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Springdale, where he led an intercessory prayer ministry for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Cater Duncan of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William C. Duncan of Springdale and Bruce C. Duncan and Paulette of New London, Texas: one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Ann Gross and Doc of Marietta, Ga.; three grandsons; two stepgrandsons; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one stepgreat-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with Charlie Foster and Joe Dorman officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim White, Larry Langley, Heath Duncan, Conley Williams, Aaron Duncan and Wayne Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Watson, Ray Pratt, Don Pettay, Luther Hall, Tom Buchanan and Marvin Plumlee.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Missions of Northwest Arkansas, 1709 Johnson Road, Springdale, 72762.

SPRINGDALE — Thelma M. Duncan of Springdale went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 25, 2011. Thelma was born Oct 19, 1922, in Monticello, Ark., to her parents Will H. Cater and Mattie PearlCater. She graduated from Hartman, Ark., High School. She married Charles H. Duncan on Jan. 8, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Thelma is survived by her sister, Willine Davis of Springdale, Ark.; son, William C. Duncan of Springdale, Ark.; son, Bruce C. Duncan and wife Paulette of Flint, Texas, and daughter Rebecca A. Duncan of Kingston, Ga. She is also survived by grandchildren, William Heath Duncan and wife Kim of Allen, Texas, Aaron Duncan and wife Caroline of Dallas, Texas, Courtney and Haleigh Mays of Atlanta, Ga., Chase Duncan of Sharpsburg, Ga., and by three great-granddaughters, Brooke, Holli and Annaleigh.

Thelma also had beloved nephews and a niece. She was a faithful member of Cross Church, Springdale, Ark., where she taught Sunday school and Bible Study classes.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the dedicated, loving and compassionate administration and staff of the Maples at Har-Ber Meadows who cared extensively for mom during the past two years. We would also like to thank Circle of Life Hospice for their tender care during the past month.

Thelma Duncan's family and friends are rejoicing that she is now in presence of God her Father whom she always loved and served. If desired, donations may be made to the Foreign Mission's Outreach Program of Cross Church, Johnson Road, Springdale, Ark. Final arrangements are with Sisco Funeral Chapel, Springdale, Ark., with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and memorial services at 2 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, with the Rev. Charlie Foster, the Rev. Joe Dorman and the Rev. Tom Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
