Emily Lucille Sturgeon, 89, of Conway, passed away Saturday, November 07, 2009. She was born Thursday, April 8, 1920 in Conway, Arkansas to the late Silas and Ella (Day) Atkinson.
Mrs. Sturgeon was a good mother, strong-minded, and the strength behind her family. She was a simple lady who enjoyed simple things. She was a good Christian woman who loved the Lord, reading her Bible, and going to church. She was a member of the Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church of God.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Sturgeon of Conway and Alfred Sturgeon of Shambough, Iowa; two daughters, Darlene Allison and Karen Beene of Conway; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charline Gately.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Bill Pat Sturgeon and Grover Lee Bates; son, Walter Sturgeon; two daughters, Joyce Compton and Loretta Stinson; brother, James Atkinson; and two sisters, Audrey Phillips and Ruby Zarlingo.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway with Brother Tommy Nolen, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery with Michael Sturgeon, Jerry Beene, Donnie Sturgeon, James Gibson, Pedro Ramose, and Dennis Wilson, serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, November 9, 2009.
