Judge Aylor Dies After Long Illness
C. C. Aylor, president of the Bank of Melbourne, who served as county judge of Izard County 14 years, completing his most recent term last January, died at 10 p.m. Friday in a Batesville hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev Howard Sherrill of the Church of Christ, Searcy and burial was in the Melbourne cemetery.
The youngest man ever to serve as county judge, when first elected, Judge Aylor was succeeded last January by W. E. Billingsley. He became a director of the Bank of Melbourne in 1923 and had been president 13 years. Before entering politics he taught in rural schools and farmed. At the time of his death he was one of the two largest landowners in the country.
He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Susie Thompson; a son, Cone Aylor, Melbourne; a daughter, Mrs Floyd Sheffield, Guion; two brothers, Tom Aylor, Missouri and Charles Aylor of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Mrs J. R. Boyles, LaCrosse, Ark., and Mrs Elden Cooper, Larkin, Ark.
