NEECE, Sarah McCORMICK - Mrs. Sarah Neece, mother of Mrs. B.S. Beach, died Sunday at the home of her daughter on West Walnut street at the advanced age of 100 years, eight months and nineteen days. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. T.D. Penn, assisted by Rev. F.A. Lark. Mrs. Neece, whose maiden name was Sarah McCormick, was born in Port Williams, Ky, December 22, 1815. At the age of 18 she moved with her parents to McDonough Co., Ill. where on October 20, 1835 she was married to Beverly Neece. To this union was born thirteen children, all of whom lived to man and womanhood, but her husband and seven children preceded her to their graves. Mrs. Neece joined the Primitive Baptist church some seventy years ago. Mrs. Neece was in excellent health until after her one hundredth birthday last winter, her only infirmity being a slight deafness. Her eyesight was good almost until the last and her death was not the result of sickness but a general break down owing to her extreme age. She led an active life, refusing to be waited on and was always cheerful and looking on the bright side of life.
