Melbourne - Rowena Rose Tomlinson Majors, 83, of Melbourne died Sept. 5, 2010, in Batesville.
Born June 23, 1927, in Melbourne, she was the daughter of R. O. and Eula Mae Marchant Tomlinson. She was a homemaker and an elementary schoolteacher. The majority of her career was spent teaching in the Melbourne and Springdale school districts. She retired after 30 years of teaching.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Bailey of Melbourne and Dr. Jake Mitchell Majors Sr. of Shreveport, LA; a daughter, Patricia Kopel of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Donald O. Diemer, Tabitha Nesterenko, Brandon Diemer, Rose Elizabeth Majors, Reily Kathleen Majors and Jake Mitchell Majors Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; two nephews, James Miller and Kirk Miller, and four nieces, Sharon Edwards, Pempie Lamberth, Shawn Cooper and Traca Lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Owen Tomlinson Jr.; and a sister, Janet Miller.
Graveside memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Melbourne Cemetery. Arrangements are by Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
