Dorothy M. Cothren, age 99, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 17, 2005. Born in Stark, Arkansas, on July 23, 1906, she was the daughter of the late John Bowd and Mollie (Null) Stark. Mrs. Cothren was a homemaker and mother. For most of her life, she was a resident of Cleburne County, having lived for a few years in Oklahoma. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, the outdoors, and reading. Mrs. Cothren was a member of the Post Oak Baptist Church. Her husband, Ebb Cothren, preceded her in death on March 3, 1969. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two infant sons and her son, Walton (Buddy) Cothren; one brother, Porter Stark; four sisters, Kate Foley, Johnnie Todd, Della Grimes, and Mayme Cothren, other half-brothers and half-sisters. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Athalee Cothren of Greers Ferry; two sons, Goldman Cothren and his wife, Betty, of Rogue River, Oregon, and Howard (Gly) Cothren and his wife, Freeda, of Heber Springs; two daughters, Connie Lynn and her husband, J. C., and Shelby Morton and her husband, Paul Dean, all of Higden; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at West Side Baptist Church with Rev. Van Harness officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cross Roads Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Cothren, Terry Lynn, Woody Cothren, Van Cothren, John Morton, and Jamie Morton. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Cross Roads Cemetery or Cleburne County Hospice.
