Leona Ruth Syre, 64, of Fayetteville, died Feb. 7, 2005, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born Jan. 4, 1941, in Stuttgart to Charles E. and Ida Carr Cox. She was a writer and a member of the Elks Lodge in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Ann Anderson of Ham Lake, Minn., and Sherrie Gilbert of Fayetteville; a son, Conrad Eugene Hamman of Florida; a sister, Beatrice Ratekin of DeWitt; two brothers, Edward Cox of Cape Coral, Fla., and Robert Cox of Prairie Grove; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Beard's Funeral Chapel with George Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Round Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Cox, Jimmy Cox, Jimmy Cox, Carlos Dyke, Braden Gilbert and Hack Stephens.
