James Ponder
SPRINGDALE — James Fred Ponder, 68, of Springdale died Jan. 21, 1996, at his home. He was born Feb. 17, 1927, at Murray (Newton County) to Smith and Meddie Jones Ponder. He was retired from the maintenance department of J.C. Penney. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Ronald Ponder; three brothers, Elbert Ponder, Henry Ponder and Andrew Ponder; one sister, Ethel Ponder; two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Willmon Ponder of the home, who he married Aug. 16, 1949; three sons, Donald Ponder of Easton, Kan., Lonnie Ponder of Kansas City, Mo., and Richard Ponder of Hindsville; three daughters, Delphia Cantrell of Farmington, Vicki Cantrell of Hindsville and Lori Meza of Fayetteville; one brother, Eddie Ponder of Ava, Mo.; five sisters, Elizabeth Norton of Harrison, Lucy Glasscock of Brentwood, Delphia Cox of Chadwick, Mo., Odie Glasscock of Tontitown and Faye Cooksey of Batesville; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Cantrell, Chris Cantrell, Joshua Ponder, Danny Kinne, Johnny Sain and David Meza. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryan Ponder.
