Born in Owls Head, Franklin County, New York and in Magazine, Logan County, Arkansas
Jane was the daughter of Moses B and Betsey Ann(Magoon)Smith. She married Charles Vedder about 1875 in Omro,WI. They had two children: Alta M(Blend), and Iva Jane. Charles Vedder operated a cheese factory in Rushford(Omro), which is only a short distance from Auroraville. Charles health prompted him to move his family to Waddington,CA in about 1884 or 1885. Charles died from the effects of TB in August, 1895. His daughter Iva also died from the effects of TB in July,1898. They are both buried in the Ferndale cemetery. After the deaths of Charles and Iva, Jane and Alta moved back to Auroraville,WI. Alta married a man named Charles Blend.
