Leonard Ray “Pete” Vining age 85, of Warren, Ark. died Sunday, November 26, in the Bradley County Medical Center. He was born June 14, 1921 in Bradley County Ark. a son of the late William Leonard Vining and Myrtie Ethel Vaughn Vining. He was a heavy equipment operator, millwright, worked in maintenance at the Bradley County Medical Center and a member of the First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army, as an Infantryman during the WWII invasion of Normandy. Survivors include 2 sons, Charles L. Vining, Crossett, Ark. and Grover W. Vining, Union, Miss. 2 daughters Shirley Rice, Warren, Ark. and Bonnie Lee, Anacoco, La. 2 sisters, Frankie Lou McKee, North Little Rock, Ark. and Willene McBride, Monticello Ark. 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A former wife Elsie Lee Taylor Vining, Rison, Ark. He is preceded in death by a spouse Beatrice A. Vining who died June 27th 1990. Funeral services were 1:30pm Thursday, November 30th at Frazer’s Chapel Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and soloist was Linda Thompson. Burial with flag presentation was in Oakland Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Andy Lee, Bruce James, Tony Vining, Billy Joe Lee, Russell Corker and Donald Corker. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Perry, Johnny Corker, Richard Perry, Pat Balentine, Victor Myers, Bill Hargis, Dr. James W. Marsh, Ronald Clanton, Norman Carter, Mike Lee, Lloyd Corker, Sam Perry and residents and staff of Guesthouse.
