Lewvina MCALISTER

Walnut Grove Cemetery
Pope County,
Arkansas

Birth: Feb. 9, 1833
Death: Dec. 31, 1920

Twice a widow, Lewvina was the daughter of Joseph Dell Churchill and Lucretia Bland Bocock (a widow)

Lewvina was the second wife of Meredith "Crawford" McAlister and with him had issue 2 children.

Lewvina's first husband was possibly a Jeff Garner.

Update: September 2008, we have good reason to believe Lewvina was also married to a Mr. Eoff (Sounds like Oaff) and had 4 children by him, and left for some reason unknown, and married Crawford just after his first wife died. This would have been a scandle in those days and thus, we speculate this information WAS NOT passed along to us.

She is buried next to her Brother's (James) wife, Martha A. Churchill, per her request. Her second Husband M. Crawford McAlister is buried in a remote section near Welcome, AR, a spot he picked out before his death and known as the McAlister Cemetery. A Crawford infant lies beside him.

(Obviously, Lewvina died before her sister-in-law Martha but knew where Martha would be buried because James, Lewvina's brother, died in 1910. Thus Martha's final resting place was clear and Lewvina could state she wished to be buried next to Martha or where Martha would eventually be interred.)

Lewvina may be found in the 1850 Census of Izard County, along with her Dad, mom and siblings, including James, look for the miss spelled surname of CHURCHILE, Richwoods township.

She was my Great Grand Mother.
