An educator and principal, he served in the US Army during World War II and Korea. He was a Boy Scout leader, Little League coach, councilman, and member of the Masons. He is survived by two daughters and two sons. His wife Mary Sue, sister Earlene Williams, and brother, William Coats preceded him in death. Obit, with photo, in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette on June 28, 2005.
