Lorena Helen Gould, 92, of Batesville died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in a local nursing home. Born Oct. 22, 1907, in Bald Knob, she was the daughter of Levi and Effie Mae Sheffer Turner. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Swaim Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville.
Survivors include four sons, Arthur Gould of Tacoma, Wash., Bob Gould of Jonesboro, Ervin Gould of Avinger, Texas, and Calvin Gould of Jacksonville, Texas; two daughters, Jean Moore of Floral and Margaret Freeman of Center, Texas; two sisters, Naomi Lambert and Sylvia Shelton, both of Floral; 16 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Lee Gould; three brothers, John Turner, Virgil Turner and Albert Turner; and a sister, Ollie Mae Altom.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. today at Swaim Chapel Missionary Baptist church with Arthur L. Gould and W. T. Rider officiating.
Burial was at Palestine Cemetery in the Hutchinson Mountain Community under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Batesville. Pallbearers were Bobby Gould Jr., Randal Moore, Steve Moore, Cody Gould, Jason Gould, Jared Gould and Keith Gould.
