Nina Marie Armstrong, 88 of Fort Smith, Ark., passed away Aug. 17. Nina Marie Armstrong, 88 of Fort Smith, Ark., passed away Aug. 17. She was born March 4, 1918, in Hackett, Ark., to Robert and Nancy Cain. She was a co-owner of Mansfield Plumbing and Heating, a member of Mansfield First Baptist Church and a 50-year Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cecil Armstrong; a daughter Merilyn Marie Armstrong; two brothers, Arbe and Warner Cain; a grandson William Armstrong; and one great-grandson Tristan Hutchinson. She is survived by two sons, Robert Armstrong and wife Maye of Mansfield and Lewis Armstrong and wife Dorothy of Kemp, Texas; four daughters, Norma Riddle and husband Wayne of Benton, Ark., Nancy McGee and husband Richard of Arkoma, Kathleen Gross and husband Merle of Prairie Grove, Ark., Mary Groves and husband Frank of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother Tedd Cain of wife Erma of Monterey, Calif.; two sisters, Ina Norton and Erma Dan Spears, both of Texarkana; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Mansfield First Baptist Church. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Arnold Henson, Gary Musgrove, Roger Armstrong, Neal Armstrong, Bryan Gross, John Gross and Jeff Gross. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church and Earl Overton. McConnell Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.
