She was born to William Elbert and Jennie Marie Collins Parlette.
After graduating from south high school in Lima, she continued studies at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was married to Byron M. Haines on May 2, 1937, when they took up residence in Middletown, where Armco Steel Corp. employed her husband. When her husband was transferred to Baltimore, Md., she and her family moved there in 1944. While in Baltimore she was employed as a secretary for Aetna Life Insurance Co.
In 1962, she and her husband returned to Middletown, where she served as secretary to the director of parks and recreation for the city of Middletown. She retired in 1972, and in 1979 she and her husband moved to Fayetteville.
She was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching sports on TV.
Survivors include her husband, one son and daughter-in-law, one sister, one brother, 4 granddaughters.
