Virginia “Tip” McGuire, age 79, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. She was born May 28, 1928, in Ravenden, Arkansas, to William K. and Lillie M. Bragg Tipton and lived in Mountain Home since childhood, graduating from Mountain Home High School as salutatorian of her class in 1946. On January 11, 1947, she married Dean McGuire in Mountain Home. Mrs. McGuire was a former employee of the “Baxter Bulletin” newspaper and Western Auto store. In 1960, she went to work for First State Building and Loan and retired in 1980 as an executive vice-president and managing director. She was active as a book marker for the Friends of the Library Club book sales. She was a loving wife and mother and caring friend who was known for her quick wit and ability to always see the humorous side of life.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Dean McGuire: of the home; a daughter: Kathy (Bill) Lacefield: Jacksonville, Arkansas; two sisters: Willene McGuire: Carson City, Nevada, and Betty Jane (Stan) Hood: Cookeville, Tennessee; a brother: Kenneth (Connie) Tipton: South Haven, Mississippi; two grandchildren: DeAnna (Dean) Campbell: Sherwood, Arkansas, and Tim (Mindy) Lacefield: Maumelle, Arkansas; two great-granddaughters: Regan and Riley Campbell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Glen Tipton.
