Marriage: April 26, 1908

Tom the son of John Fillmore Whittaker and Laura Belle (Crow) Whittaker. Maud the daughter of Zack Manning and Margarette Marjorie Belle Rye Manning. Tom and Maud (Manning) Whittaker were married by Jim Manning, Justice of the Peace at home in Hoxie, Arkansas. To this union eight children were born: Marie, Viola, Walter, Carl, Christine and Alean (twins), Bernice and Betty.

Tom Whittaker Retired Farmer Dies Last Night

Tom Whittaker, aged 75, of Rt. 3, Walnut Ridge, AR died last night at 6:15. He was a lifetime resiednt of Lawrence County.
Mr. Whittaker, who was a retired farmer, was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church.

He was married to Maude Manning on April 26, 1908.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Walter Whittaker of Greensboro, N.C., and Carl Whittaker of Jonesboro; five daughters, Mrs. Marie Shackleford of Jonesboro, Mrs Dallo Bennett of Imboden, Mrs. Herbert Herzog of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mrs. Less Freeman of Walnut ridge and Mrs. Robert Wolthoff of Grundy Center, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Virgil Manning of Hoxie; 35 Grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Gethsemane Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under direction of Bryan Funeral home.

Mrs. Whittaker
Mrs. Maude Mae Manning Whittaker, 92, of Walnut Ridge, died Monday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge, following an illness of several months.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Whittaker who died in 1964 and four children, Viola Frye, Walter Whittaker, Alean Bennett and Carl Whittaker. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs Marie Shackelford of Biloxi, Miss., Mrs Christine Herzog of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mrs. Bernice Freeman of Paragould, Ark. and Mrs. Betty Wolthoff of Grundy Center, Iowa; one brother, Virgil Manning of Hoxie and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Whittaker Services
Funeral services for Maude May Whittaker, aged 92 of Walnut Ridge, who died May 21 in Lawrence Memorial hospital, were held last Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in the Gethsemane Baptist Church with Charles Helms officiation.

Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Darrell Shackelford, Johnny Shackelford, Tom Frye, Neil Whittaker, Tom Wolthoff, Tim Wolthoff, Reggie Freeman, Steve Freeman and Murel E. Shackelford.
