Drake son of William and Martha Drake.He married Margaret Matilda Goggins before the Civil War.John B Drake enlisted in Tarrant's Battery Light Artillery of Alabama on June 1,1863 at Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Ala. for the duration of the war. Co. Muster Roll Aug.31,1863 shows John B Drake as absent because he was sick. Muster Roll of Oct 31,1863 shows John B Drake was enrolling officer for Fayett County, Alabama.The children born to this marriage are

Margaret Matilda Goggins Drake daughter of Abraham Goggins and Pamelia Goggins.Margaret married John B Drake before the Civil War.Family history passed down this information.Matilda was alienated from her family because of her marriage.Matilda was allowed to see her mother,when she was dying because of the influence of her brothers.She was disinherited,but again on the death of her father,her brothers gave her a portion of the family money with which she bought a farm near Arkinda, Arkansas.This is where she died.Children born to the marriage are William "Henry" Drake,John "Abraham" Drake, Mary P.A. "Marymelie" Drake, Sherman "Cook" Drake, Cary "Levi" Drake, Arviley Jane "Arvilla" Drake, Ider "Caldonia" Drake, Harriett "Leoma" Drake.
