Herman the son of Bevley Harrison Matheny and Rosa Mae Crabtree) Matheny. Berneace's parents were James Cleveland "Cleve" Hodges and Erie Ellen (Wilson) Hodges.

STRAWBERRY -- Herman L. Matheny, 93, of Strawberry died Tuesday, Sept. 20,2005, at Cave City Nursing Home in Cave City.
A Strawberry native, he was a retired farmer, worked as an auto parts manager for Street's Auto Parts and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
He was a member of Strawberry Church of Christ, where he served as an elder from 1961-1984.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Matheny of Jonesboro and Jerry Matheny of Strawberry; a daughter, Rose Orrick of Strawberry; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Berneace Matheny; his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Strawberry Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Jason Orrick, Derrick Clifton, Jared Smith, Stacey Matheny, Kenneth "Corky" Christy and F.K. Willmuth.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Lynn.

WALNUT RIDGE - Berneace Hodges Matheny, 86, of Strawberry died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at a Cave City nursing home.
Born Nov. 9, 1915 at Tuckerman, she lived at Strawberry most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Strawberry Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Matheny; two sons, Robert Matheny of Jonesboro and Jerry Matheny of Strawberry; a daughter, Rose Orrick of Strawberry; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Strawberry Church of Christ with Edgar Gardner and Don House officiating. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery near Strawberry with arrangements by House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Stacy Matheny, Jason Orrick, Kenneth Christy, Derrick Clifton, Jerry Oliver and Maynard Richey.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ladies Bible Class.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Lynn.
