Blant Ward Smith Dies in Kansas. Funeral services for Blant Ward Smith, 57, of Osawatomie, Kans., a former resident of this area, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Whiteville Cemetery under the direction of the McClure-Smith Service of Mountain Home. Mr Smith, a railroad mechanical supervisor employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad, died at Osawatomie Sunday following an extended illness.
He was born in Durham County, NC. May 28, 1907, and was the son of the late Eli Smith and Minnie Crawford Smith. He was a member of the Masonic order. Survivors include his wife, Mrs Jessie Smith, of Osawatomie; two sons, Ward Smith of Fort Riley, Kans., and Ernest Smith of St Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs Olivia Steele of Kansas City, Kans, and Miss Shirley Smith of Osawatomie; four grandchildren; two brothers, Eli Hugh Smith of Lincoln Park, Mich. and Joe Smith of Lilbourne, Mo. and five sisters, Mrs Isaac Thomas of Mountain Home, Mrs Anna Woods of Sparks, Nev., Mrs Theo Woolridge of Lilbourne, Mrs Elsie Lawrence of Qulin, Mo. and Mrs Dallas Creech of Melvindale, Mich.
