Abb and Ann's parents were Robert McKamey, Jr. and Susan Ann (Bragg) McKamey.

FORMER IMBODEN TEACHER DIES AFTER LENGTHY ILLNESS

Miss Anna McKamey, the daughter of the late Robert and Susan McKamey, was born at Imboden and passed away Friday, January 13 at Randolph County Hospital after being in ill health for some time.

The McKamey’s were early settlers of this community. Miss McKamey’s grandfather having come here around 1851 from Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin brother Abb McKamey and another brother, James L. McKamey.

Miss Anna was a member of the Methodist Church and was an active and faithful member as long as her health permitted. She taught a Sunday school class for several years. She was also a primary teacher in the public school many years, leaving the imprint of her Christian character upon the lives of many young people who came under her influence.

She was a graduate of State Teachers College at Conway began her teaching at Wayland Spring later teaching at Oak Leaf, Opposition, Ravenden, Portia, Walnut Ridge, Fender and at Dalhart, Texas before coming to the Imboden Public School about 1920 and taught here until she retired in 1948.

Survivors are four brothers,
John and Oscar McKamey, Imboden
Robert McKamey, Memphis
Millard McKamey, Lakewood, California
Three sisters,
Mrs. Ora Guthrie, Imboden
Mrs. Leona Karsch, Ferguson, Missouri
Mrs. Mandia Manley, Farmington, Missouri and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. Otha Strayhorn, Pastor, officiating assisted by Rev. J.C. Smith, Baptist Minister.

Interment was in Hope Cemetery under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home. Pallbearers were former pupils of Miss McKamey, Leon Stokes, Larry McLeod, Octavius Smith, Lucian Sloan Jr, William Rainwater and John O. Downing.
