Florence Ann Fantinel Hammond of Springdale died Jan. 20, 2007, in Springdale. She was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Tontitown, the daughter of Gerome J. and Teresa Speranza Fantinel.

Mrs. Hammond and her husband owned and operated the Hammond Nursing Home in Springdale until they retired in 1977.

She was a licensed practical nurse and used her training in her work at her nursing home.

Mrs. Hammond was a member and benefactor of St. Raphael's Catholic Church where she chaired the finance committee during their drive to raise funds to build the present church facility.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest Conrad Hammond Jr., four sisters, Lucy Pianalto, Marie Hunholz, Louise Lorenzo and Josephine Fantinel, four brothers, William, Albino, Charles and Louis Fantinel.

She is survived by her nieces, Virginia Walker and Joann Fantinel of Springdale and Thelma Lorenzo of Little Rock; her nephews, Charles Lorenzo of Paris, Dr. John Hunholz of Seattle, Wash., Jerome Fantinel of Tontitown and Tom Lorenzo of Little Rock; three great-nieces, Deanna Shackelford of Springdale and Carol Ann Caudle of Fayetteville and Peggy Pianalto of Tulsa, Okla.; her great-nephews, Tommy Walker, Danny Walker, Jimmy Walker, Jerry Walker and Jerry Fantinel, all of Springdale, and Robert Walker of Bentonville.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Antony officiating.

Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery.
