Wife of Charles Edward Berlau
Sheila Organ Berlau, 51, of Katy, Texas, passed away Friday, March 10, 2006, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Sheila was born Feb. 23, 1955, in Fort Smith. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, attaining a bachelor of science in education in 1977 and a master of education in 1980. During her life, Sheila was employed as a school teacher and librarian. Most of her married life, she was a devoted homemaker and mother with a gift for decorating and landscaping. She took particular pride in her children's academic and athletic accomplishments. Sheila was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Katy, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Organ and is survived by her mother, Violet Organ; her brother, Richard Organ; children, Meagan and Logan; and husband, Chuck. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews living in Arkansas and Texas.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith. A second memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 23, at St. Peter's United Methodist Church with final plans pending.
In lieu of flowers, Sheila requested donations be made to Houston Hospice, 8811 Gaylord, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024-0879; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, TX 77257. The family wishes to express gratitude to Houston Hospice, Sandy Smith, Earldeen Veals, then nurses and staff at Memorial Hermann Katy, and Dr. Janet Macheledt. A special word of thanks to Dr. Andrize Janecki, in whose care Sheila received great comfort.
