Floyd James Barringer passed away on September 14, 2016 at Sparks Hospital in the Peachtree Hospice Unit following a brief illness. He was 91 years of age. His daughter was in attendance at the time of his passing.
Floyd was born in the town of Chambers, Oklahoma, in Pittsburg County on September 3, 1925. He was one of eight children born to James Payton Barringer and Etta Hazel Barringer.

Floyd served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. Following his discharge from serving in the Navy he began working in the cattle business, which he truly loved. He initially worked at the Oklahoma City Stockyards, buying cattle for the Armor Meatpacking Company. He later moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas and worked as a cattle buyer for the Johnson-Hales Livestock Commission Company. At the time of his retirement he was co-owner of the Fort Smith Stockyards.

Floyd was preceded in death by his son, Gary Don Barringer; his parents James and Etta Barringer; his brothers, Earl, William and J.D. Barringer, and his sisters, Jewel Southern, Cornelia Kaiser and Doris Freeman.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Barringer; his daughter, Diane Wilson of Covington, Louisiana; his grandson, Christopher Wilson of Covington, Louisiana; his sister, Imogene Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and his sisters-in-law, Claudine Barringer of McAlester, Oklahoma and Wanda Barringer of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Floyd will be deeply missed by friends and family.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Monday, September 19, 2016 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Navy Honors. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

September 2, 1927 - March 30, 2020

Marjorie Barringer passed away March 30, 2020, at Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab in Fort Smith. She was 92 years of age.
Marjorie was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Indianola, Okla.

She was a member of Parkhill Church of Christ in Fort Smith.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred West and Elizabeth Goodwyn West; her husband of 68 years, Floyd James Barringer; and a son, Gary Don Barringer.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Wilson of Covington, La.; a grandson, Christopher Wilson of Covington; and two sisters, Mary Weddle of Kansas City, Mo., and Anita Fink of Atwater, Calif. Marjorie will be deeply missed by friends and family.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
