James Roy Peachey, 90, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born May 28, 1933, in Prescott, to the late William and Earnie Peachey.

James was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ attending both Southwest and Valley View churches of Christ. He would attend wherever a potluck was being served and usually be first in line.

James attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Oklahoma State University and the University of Arkansas, ultimately achieving a master's in agriculture. He also served as a medic in the U.S. Army.

James worked for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Research and Extension for 39 years serving in Faulkner, Pope, Benton, Polk and Craighead counties. After retiring in 1993 with emeritus status, he worked in banking as an agricultural advisor for eight years.

He was a member of the Rotary Club, Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, and Farm Bureau, serving on the board of directors and multiple committees for 28 years.

James loved helping people with anything in agriculture or gardening. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and cheering the Razorbacks. Most of all James loved his family and bragging on his daughters' and granddaughters' accomplishments.

In addition to his parents and an infant sister, James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Orva Dee Peachey.

Survivors include his two daughters, Pam (Russell) Hill of Little Rock and Sandra (Art) Hingst of Hermann, Mo.; two stepsons, Alan and Rodney Slinkard; a brother, Ernest H. (Myra) Peachey of Prescott; six grandchildren, Heather (Derek) Thompson of Scott, Haley Hingst of Mason, Ohio, Heidi Hingst of Hermann, Rachel Rossi, Rebecca Rossi and Tori Hill, all of Little Rock; a great-grandchild, Margot Thompson; four stepgrandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Chris Harrell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at noon Monday in De Ann Cemetery at Prescott.

Special thanks go to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House and the staff and residents at St. Bernards Village.
