Evelyn H. Altes, 96, of Van Buren passed away on Friday, April 22nd at her home.
She was born December 1, 1925 to the late Jim and Mary Berry.
She was a railroad master at the Van Buren Depot, a member of the Senior Center in Alma, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Altes, and two sons Chris and Ed.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Thursday. April 28, in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters; Diana Pearson of Clarksville, AR, Charlotte Norman, of Van Buren, and a son Mike Altes of Coffeyville, KS. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of her family.
