Alean Nelson, 80, of Fort Smith died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in a local hospital.

She was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of James Nelson Sr.

Funeral was at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Washington Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.

She is survived by four daughters, Annie Glazier of Tulsa and Dorothy Darty, Jerline Lewis and Pearlie Vega, all of Fort Smith; four sons, Charles of Dallas, Thurman of Tulsa and Earnest and Larry, both of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mattie Donaldson and Naomi Henderson, both of Paris, Texas; one brother, Rudolph Council of Paris, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.
