Martha Dunning was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Burkes. She attended Public School in Fort Smith. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Ft Smith. She married Tom Dunning and moved to Van Buren. After living in Van Buren a short time she became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she remained until her death. She was a very friendly person and made many Friends in Van Buren. She passed away on Saturday July 13, 1968 at her home in Van Buren, she had been in failing health for several months.
