Ray N. Vines, 82, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Claude B. and Luda M. (Roberson) Vines.

Ray was a graduate of Fort Smith High School and was in the Arkansas Army National Guard for 21 years. He was a funeral director for over 50 years starting his career out at McConnell Funeral Home in 1968 and retiring this year after 40 years from Ocker-Putman Funeral Home. He was the coroner and chief deputy coroner for 38 years and was an active member of the Wheeler Ave. Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Vines and a son, Charles Ray Vines.

Funeral service is 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel with a private family burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, Marshall Vines and his wife Lisa of Hackett, AR and Craig Vines and his wife Kim of Fort Smith, AR; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, William, Aaron and Emily Vines, Corey Vines and his wife Ashley, Tyler Vines and his wife Dana and Ashley Davis; 6 great grandchildren, Mia and Hayden Davis and Clayton, Elena, Andrea and Colmer Vines and his extended family, Rick , Jonnie, Allie, Jason and John Freeman.

Barbara Jean Vines, 75, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 in a local hospital. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Charles E. and Alma L. (Rainwater) Henderson. She was a retired Media Services Secretary for Arkansas Best Corporation and a member of the Church of Christ Church.

Survivors include her husband Ray N. Vines of the home, three sons, Charles Ray Vines of Tucker, Arkansas, Marshall Vines and his wife Lisa of Hackett, Arkansas and Craig Vines and his wife Kim of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Charles Henderson of Colorado City, Texas and Richard Henderson of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Matthew, William, Corey, Emily and Aaron Vines and Ashley Davis; 2 great grandchildren, Easton Vines and Mia Davis, and extended family Rick, Jonnie, Allie, Jason and John Freeman.

Funeral services will be 1:00PM Monday, May 26, 2014 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel with private burial on Tuesday under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Tyler, Kyle, Matthew, William, Corey, Aaron, Emily and Ashley Davis.
