Deborah Slater-Tays entered into rest on June 22, 2013 at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Tays, Jr., her mother Burrell Slater, her father William Slater, her aunt Cora Rice, and her niece Robin Orendorff. She was a devout Catholic, a nurturing parent and grandparent to her two sons and 6 grandchildren, and a committed sibling to her two elder sisters and two younger brothers.
Even to the end, she had an undying sense of humor, the memory of which will never be forgotten. She put others' needs before her own, and was always quick to give whatever she had. She asked for nothing, but was willing to give everything. She would always lend an ear to those that hurt, but would never complain about her own pain.
She is survived by her son David Williams and his wife Sarah, her son James Williams and his wife Kristan, her granddaughters Morgan Williams, Mackenzie Cole, Haylee Williams, Maddie Williams, Ella Williams and Landry Williams, her sister Nancy Orendorff and her husband Gary, her nephew Lance Orendorff, her sister Susie Yusko and her husband John, her nephew John Hendricks and niece Debbie Hendricks, her brother Billy Burr Slater, her niece Jordan Slater and nephew Jared Slater, her brother Michael Slater, and many other grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27,2013 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, AR. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, with services provided by Lewis Funeral Chapel. No public viewing.
