J.L. Swink, 89, of Fort Smith went to be with his Lord on March 4, 2013. He was born December 17, 1923 in Pocola, OK to Joe and Sarah Jane Person Swink. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith for more than 27 years, where he served on the Administrative Board and Finance Committee. He also served on the Methodist Nursing Home Board, and was a member of the Southside CBMC and worked many years on the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. In addition he served on the City National Bank Board of Directors and the Loan and Discount Committee. He is survived by one daughter Brenda Mendenhall and son-in-law Robert Mendenhall of Pocola, OK; two grandchildren, Leigh Anne Farmer and husband Kevin of Fayetteville and Brian Richards and wife Kimberly of Fort Smith; four great grandchildren; three sisters, LaRue Soudress and Wanda Vickery of California and Carol Swink of North Carolina; and lastly by his wonderful caregivers. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Swink; his parents; one sister Cille Swink of Stockton, CA and one brother W.L. Swink of Bonanza, OK. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kevin Farmer, Ralph Harmon, Ronnie Hawkins, Greg Magness, Brian Richards, and Joe Ray Richison. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association for Western Arkansas 2408 South 51st Court Fort Smith, AR 72903

Mildred Swink, 83, of Fort Smith, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010.
She was born October 18, 1927 in Pocola, OK to the late Lester L. and Virgie Gray Fuller.

She was retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Uplifters Sunday School Class.

Funeral service was 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Orr officiating. Entombment was at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years J. L. Swink, her daughter Brenda Mendenhall and husband Bob of Pocola, OK, her grandchildren Brian Richards of Fort Smith and Leigh Anne Farmer of Fayetteville, AR and her great grandson Owen W. Richards.

Pallbearers were Brian Richards, Kevin Farmer, Bobby Mendenhall, John Mendenhall, Joe Ray Richison and Drew Bradley.
