Zelda Ruth Taft, 87, died Friday April 21, 2017 in her home in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
She was born May 19, 1929 in Dierks, AR to Henry and Clydeen (Wilson) Rapp.
She was a homemaker, graduate of Fort Smith High School and former resident of Fort Smith until 2004. Zelda is a current member of the South Walton Church of Christ in Santa Rosa Beach and a former member of the Park Hill Church of Christ in Fort Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto H. Taft of Fort Smith; her parents; one son, Lon H. Taft; three sisters, Jacqueline Johnson, Maurice Mixon and Joan Bramble all of Fort Smith.
Zelda was known for her sense of humor and devout faith. She was tireless in caring for her disabled son for 30 years.
She is survived by her two daughters Teri Edwards and her husband John of Cypress, TX, their children Megan and Carter Edwards; Gwen Break of Santa Rosa Beach; grandson Sam Taylor and family of Destin, FL; her sister, Charlotte Herring of Cross City, FL; and many cousins, nieces, nephew and many in-laws.
Graveside funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith with Grady Rice of Northside Church of Christ in Alma officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clary-Glenn Funeral Homes & Crematory of Freeport, FL.
