Mrs. Era Martin, aged 71 wife of J. C. Martin died at her home at 437 Union Street at 10:50 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Martin was a native of Calhoun county, and was a member of the Methodist Church. She had been living in Ouachita county for a number of years. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, Allen, Billy, and Leroy Martin of Camden; four daughters, Mrs. Idus Wilson of Camden, Mrs. Lloyd Avant of Mooringsport, La., Mrs. Cecil Nowlin, and Mrs. Harvey Davis both of Hampton; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Martin of Urbana; 34 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Faustina Methodist Church near Hampton conducted by Rev. Doyle Creech, and Rev. Lonnie Lasater. Burial will follow in the Dunn Cemetery. Casket bearer are, Clyde Martin, Cecil Martin, Cary Robertson, Benny Avant, Bobby Drummond, and Jerry Davis. The body is lying in state at the home at 437 Union Street. Proctors Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Camden News - September 13, 1960)
