October 5, 1924 - March 21, 1991
Ruby Arlene Powers was born to the family of John Henry and Annie Laura Tharp.
She was the fifth of ten children.
She graduated from Eupora, MS in 1942 After graduation she worked in the US Army materials plant in Grenada MS where she assembled 20MM AA rounds for the war effort.
After the war she moved to Memphis, Tennessee. There she met Earl Emmett Powers and married in 1947. To that union was born Emmett Eugene Powers (1950), Sandra Colleen Powers (1954) and Brenda Sue Powers (1956).
After her husbands' death in 1986 she moved to Fort Smith in 1987 to be with her daughters. She died in 1992 and buried at Roselawn Park.
She was a seamstress for most of her life and in here retirement she worked as a greeter for WalMart. She was a life long Baptist.
Her son is the Rev. Dr. Emmett E. Powers of Austin, Arkansas, Her daughter married Sandra married Attorney Rex Chronister of Fort Smith, Her daughter Brenda married public service employee Doug Farris of Fort Smith. She was the grandmother of seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
