Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Peer; two sisters, Louise Ray and Virginia Biggerstaff; and five brothers, Eugene, Ralph, Fay, Wayne and Dr. Louis Peer.

Donald was a retired funeral director and co-owner of Fentress Mortuary where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Seekers Sunday School Class, past president of downtown Rotary Club, former member of the Dervish and Diamond Ballroom Dance Club and World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid golfer, which he played until he was 90 years old.

April 10, 1921 - April 29, 2018

Carolyn Harvel Peer, 97 of Ft. Smith passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018.
She was born April 10, 1921 in Huntington, to the late Carl and Inez Harvel.

She graduated from Foreman High School and the University of Arkansas with a degree in Home Economics. She taught two years at Dierks, one year at Clarksville, and two years at Harrison before marrying on June 30, 1947.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Peer and a brother that died in childbirth.

She and her husband loved dancing and belonged to at least two dance clubs. They also loved traveling and visited the Holy Land numerous times. One night, she could not sleep so she got up and went into the den. God spoke to her and told her “to read the Bible 30 minutes every day”. She has now read the Bible over 48 times.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Roebuck Chapel at First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

Mrs. Peer is survived by two daughters; Donna Gail Heard and her husband Danny of Conway, Andrea McKenzie and her husband Robert of Ft. Smith, and her son Alan Peer and his wife Julie of Nacogdoches, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Aubrey Myers, Adam Heard, Kristen Longoria, Melissa Stansbery, Nicole Peer, and Eric Peer and nine great grandchildren.
