If life was a song worth singing, then every breath taken should exude the melody, harmony, and rhapsody of Ceola Mae Howard. She gained her wings on September 20th at the tender age of 93. She was a woman that found a way to leave an indefinable mark on the life of every person that she encountered, within a span of 9 decades.

Wednesday May 2, 1930, was an unforgettable moment. It was then that Ceola Mae Howard made her grand entrance into this world, delivered by a midwife in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is the beloved daughter of Booker T. and Lucy McCaskill Ford. She married the love of her life Dalton R. Howard Sr. March 30, 1950, in Gilbert, Louisiana.

Her greatest accomplishments was her dedication in the serving of our God. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a life-long member of the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. I.R Dunn, Dr. George E. Smith, and the present Dr. Jeffery Franklin. Over the years she was a member of the Eva Russ Circle, Dunn Special Chorus, known today as the Sanctuary Choir, and any other activities she was asked to serve until her health took a toll on her life.

She was no stranger to hard work as she worked at Camden High School, now known as Camden Fairview Middle School, as a well-known cook for 24 years. She also worked at the Camden Country Club and the Voters Polling at Greater St. Paul Church. Of all the notable things, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, proud aunt, and dear friend. She was grand for cooking up a pot of soup and cornbread for the soul for the members that were on the sick report. She was well known for her delicious cinnamon and yeast rolls. She also spent countless hours calling the sick and shut in, which was part of her mission pledge before her health took a toll over her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents Booker T. and Lucy McCaskill Ford, Husband Dalton R. Sr., and son Dalton R. Howard Jr.

Her legacy lives on with her two daughters; Vivian Howard-Smith (Chris) of Camden, AR and Joycelyn Ann Tollette (Steve) of Eldorado, AR; Six grandchildren; Onika Howard-Williams (Aaron) of Seattle, WA; Brittany Holley, and Laterika DeeDee Sullivan (Mike) of Little Rock, AR, LaKresha Holley of Camden AR, Taylor Tollette, and Stevie Tollette of Eldorado, AR , Twelve Great Grandchildren; Azzure, Amiyah, Aly’yah, Arianna, Breanna, Brooklyn, Keith Williams all of Seattle WA, Kyleigh Williams, Kameron Chambers, Kaiden Chambers, Monroe Jayde Sullivan, and Maisyn Jayne Sullivan all of Little Rock, AR, Rylee Clayton of Eldorado, AR. Her extended family is Sandra Tibbs (Lonnie) of Eldorado, AR, and James Baker of Corpus Christi TX. Special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
