Billy Joe Thornton age 80 of Warren, AR died Monday, January 13, at the Bradley County Medical Center. He was born February 18, 1939 in Bradley County, a son of the late Charlie Green Thornton and Wadie Smith Thornton. He retired from the flooring business with 37 years of service. He started in hard wood flooring with Wilson Oak Flooring and ending his career with Armstrong Flooring Company in Warren, AR. After retirement he worked for the Arkansas Food Bank for 3 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a 1957 graduate of the Hermitage School System. Also proceeding him in death were his brothers W. J. Thornton, Leroy Thornton, Leon Thornton, Kenneth Thornton and Charles Thornton. Sisters Louise Camp, Rachel Taylor and Charlene Ferguson.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma McClellan Thornton, whom he married January 5, 1963. Sons, Keith Thornton, Warren, AR and Kevin Thornton spouse Tonya, Warren, AR. 2 grandchildren Kailey Thornton and Carleigh Jo Thornton.

Funeral services were1:30PM Wednesday, January 15 at Frazers Chapel with Wayman Mann officiating. Burial was in Moseley cemetery. Active pallbearers were Doug Thornton, Gary Thornton, Robert Camp, Jimmy Dale Camp, David Ferguson, French Wynne Jr and French Wynne III. Honorary Pallbearers were the Class of 1957 Hermitage, AR.
