He is survived by his wife, Ruby; 2 daughters, Linda Allen of Ft. Smith and Karen Snipes of Van Buren; 3 sisters, Irene Taylor and Agnes Davis, both of Ft. Smith, and Donna Phillips of Macon, Ga.; a brother Norval Nichols of Ft. Smith 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren

Ruby Irene Nichols, 92, of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 7, 2021 in Fort Smith.
Ruby was born July 14, 1928 in Fort Smith to the late Dosha Francis.
She married the love her life Carl Edward Nichols on November 9, 1946 and spent 60 years of her life by his side. She was a homemaker for all those years. At one time she worked part-time at Mr. Tux where she fitted many grooms and young men for their high school proms. She was an active member of the West-Ark Church of Christ. She and Carl would help with communion preparations. She also spent time volunteering at the Hope Chest. In her spare time she loved to sew, cook, and do jigsaw puzzles.
Ruby was preceded in death by her mother Dosha, sister Helen, husband Carl and her daughter Linda Gail Allen.
She leaves behind her daughter Karen (Nichols) and Gil Snipes of Van Buren, AR, grandchildren Melissa (Neugent) Walker and her husband Brad of Fort Smith, Jason Neugent and his wife Amy of Mena, AR, Amy (Allen) Harris and her husband Brian of Van Buren, Nicholas Allen and his wife Sara of Fort Smith, and Nathan Allen of San Francisco, California. She was also a proud great-grandma to Braden, Brynn, Dakota, Landon, Levi, Zach, Katie, Bailey and Brody along with a great-great grandchild Jack. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Monday January 11, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery with Larry Todd officiating. Public viewing will be from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Sunday January 10 at Lewis Funeral Chapel 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be Jason Neugent, Nicholas Allen, Braden Walker, Landon Burkhart, Levi Burkhart and Brad Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Allen, Dakota Birkhead, Zach Neugent and Brody Allen.
