Donald H. Merritt, 69, of Fort Smith died Friday, April 2, 1999, in his home. He was a retired General Turn Supervisor for MacSteel Division of Quanex Corporation, a member of the Baptist church, and an Army veteran of the Korean War where he received the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star and a Purple Heart for wounds he received.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife Katheryn; two daughters, Barbara Connally of Houston, Texas and Kathy Penney of San Jose, Calif.; three sons, David and Ron Merritt, both of Fort Smith and Donald R. Merritt of Tulsa; one sister, Johnnie Lankford of Crockett, Texas; and twelve grandchildren, Randy and Tammy Connally, Jay and Lisa Penney, Ryan, Amanda, Davey, Erica, Katie and Raquel Merritt and Shannon and Samantha Dodd.

Pallbearers will be J.R. Dunn, Bruce Holland, Ronnie Lumpkin, Robert Gillespie, J.D. Faldung and Phill Oliver

Katheryn E. Merritt, 84, of Fort Smith, died October 21, 2015 in Fort Smith.
She was born January 16, 1931 in Houston, TX to Wilfred Joseph and Corine Allen Stansburry Romair.

She was a retired employee of All Star Carpet Cleaning and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Barling.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara and husband James Connally of Celina, TX; three sons, David A and wife Carolyn Merritt of Barling, Ron and wife Freeda Merritt of Fort Smith, and Donald R. and wife Donna Merritt of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Lucile Lapaglia of Houston, TX., seventeen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald H. Merritt; one daughter, Kathy Penney; and two sisters, Willie Mae Harris and Eva Noble.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Merritt, Davey Merritt, Jerry Ginn, Randy Batson, David Romine, and Steve McAlister.
