Arthur McKown, 89, of Fort Smith, AR died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, the Belle Pointe Lodge No. 20, a 32nd degree Mason and the AARP. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Bessie Barros McKown. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. He is survived by a daughter, Dana Boles and her husband, Alan of Rockwall, Texas; three sons, Blake McKown and his wife, Becky of Jackson, TN, Stephen McKown and his wife, Maureen of Temecula, Calif. and Nick McKown and his wife, Annis of Alma; and four grandchildren, Andrew Boles, Blair McKown, Chris McKown and Lauren McKown.

Pallbearers will be Jack Lasey, M.L. Summers, J.D. Brown, Jim Rauser, Alan Boles and L.G. Caton. Honorary pallbearers will be Murry Simpson, Gary Hall, Jack Quinley and Hubert Nichols. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary. Bessie Barros McKown, 86, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a retired teacher for the Bost Human Development Services and a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; a daughter, Dana Boles of Rockwall, Texas; three sons, Blake McKown of Jackson, Tenn., Stephen McKown of Temecula, Calif. and Nick McKown of Alma; four grandchildren, Andrew, Blair, Chris and Lauren. Pallbearers will be Jack Lacey, J.D. Brown, Gayle Hesslen, Larry D. Cochran, L.G. Caton and Phillip Barros. Honorary pallbearers will be Pathfinders Sunday school class. SWTIMES RECORD 10-19-2001
